
NAGPUR, SEPT 17: Kolkata 15 points won the Dart Computers 7th National Cities Chess Championship as they beat Chrompet 2.5-1.5 in the last round today at the VBA Hall here.
Hosts Nagpur Chess Academy NCA, with 13 points, beat and pushed star-studded Chennai 12.5 down to the third spot.
For Kolkata, S S Ganguly and Atanu Lahiri scored a full point each. They will now take part in the World Cities Chess Championship to be held in China.
NCA team produced some excellent games to outwit Chennai 3-1. Saurabh Kherdekar, who faced IM Saravanan, was the sole NCA player to have drawn his game. S S Soman beat IM R B Ramesh, IM Anup Deshmukh defeated IM P Konguvel and Dilip Pagay outwitted FM T S Ravi.
In other key games, Mumbai thrashed Vijaywada 4-0, but their overall tally of 12 points couls take them to the fourth place.
