SCARBOROUGH, AUG 8: Top seed GM Jullian Hodgson (5.5) of England scored a smooth victory over compatriot GM Chris Ward (4.5) to emerge as the sole leader after the end of sixth round of the British Chess Championship here.Hodgson is closely followed by GMs Bogdan Lalig, Peter Wells and IM Gormally with five points each.

Second seed GM Alexander Baburin (4.5) was held to a draw by IM Jonathan Rowson (4.5) of Scotland.

GM Pravin Thipsay (4) was held to a draw by IM Mark Heidenfield (4) of Ireland.

In an all Indian affair, National junior champion S Kidambi (3.5) continued his good performance with a draw against IM Abhijit Kunte (3.5).

National champion K Sasikiran (4) scored his third successive win by outplaying James Cobb (3) of England. IM V Saravanan employed King’s Indian defence against David Walker (3.5) of England. Walker played some weak moves in the opening but Sarvanan (3.5) was unable to break through and had to settle for a draw.
