
NEW DELHI, July 8: City Club and Hindustan Club scored victories in group-II of the Delhi Soccer Association DSA-SAIL Senior Division Football League Championship at Ambedkar Stadium here today.
City Club8217;s substitute player Jaideep Khandelwal8217;s last-minute goal enabled the team to register a 1-0 victory over Victory Club in a lacklustre encounter.
In the initial half, Victory Club dominated the proceedings but forward Upendar Kondyal missed an easy sitter when he had to beat only City8217;s custodian Narender. But he fumbled. In the rest of the game, both teams confined the game in the mid-field and failed to create any moves.
On changing ends, City, combining well, mounted pressure against Victory Club through medios Mohd. Shakir, Amit Chandel. Just one minute before close, City8217;s Jaideep Khandelwal netted the winning goal off a header which dodged Victory8217;s custodian Suraj Shraf.
City collected four points from two outings while Victory drew blank from three matches.
Earlier, last year8217;s runners-up Allwyn-Hindustan Club scored a 4-1 convincing victory over Fronters.
At the interval, the winners led 3-0. Hindustan8217;s Mohd. Khalid put his side ahead in the ninth minute while Dharmender Kharola increased it in the 14th minute. Mohd. Khalid increased it further to 3-0 in the 24th minute. On changing ends, Mohd. Khalid completed the tally in the 45th minute while Frontier8217;s Sunil reduced the margin to 1-4 in the 45th minute.
Hindustan have collected six points from two matches while Frontiers have one point from two matches.
Hat-trick by Manoj: In A8217; Division matches, a hat-trick by Manoj Kumar enabled his team Jat Heroes to register a victory over Lodhi, who scored in the fifth, 36th and 43rd minute. For LAC, Narinder and Mukesh scored in the ninth and 57th minute. Uttrakhand drew with Indian Air Force Palam to share points.
