
PUNE, OCT 25: Indians had mixed luck today with Vijay Kannan, Rohan Bopanna and Nitin Kirtane winning their first round games and Vinod Sridhar and Manoj Mahadevan losing in the second leg of ITF Indian Satellite Tennis Circuit here.
At the Deccan Gymkhana Courts, unseeded Kannan pulled off a stunning win over sixth seeded Sridhar 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 10-8 after saving 13 match points.
In another match, wild card entrant Bopanna came back strongly after dropping the first set to beat Brinklow Blake of Australia 4-6, 7-6 7-1, 6-4.
Nitin Kirtane needed 55 minutes to quell another wild card entrant Sunil Kumar. The Chandigarh teenager lost 1-6, 1-6.
Fifth seed Tom Chinoine of the US defeated Chennai lad Mahadevan 6-3 6-1.
In the doubles, India8217;s Prahlad Srinath and Vasudeva Reddy teamed up to beat Josef Nesticy and Radim Zitko of Czech Republic 6-3, 6-3.
The other Indians, Mustafa Ghouse-Vishal Uppal and Saurav Panja-Anand Radhakrishnan, also won their doubles encounters of the day.
