CHANDIGARH, Sept 23: A 35-year-old Kajheri resident committed suicide by hanging himself here today.

Police sources said Harpreet Singh8217;s body was found hanging by a cloth attached to a hook in his room8217;s ceiling at Kajheri village. The deceased was a vegetable-seller and is survived by his wife and four children.

Quoting his wife, police sources added that he was a drunkard and often quarrelled with her. He was intoxicated when he came home for lunch today and started abusing and beating his wife. His wife went to her sister8217;s place in Palsora village to call her and on returning found his body hanging from the ceiling. The body has been sent to the Sector 16 General Hospital for post-mortem as the police have begun proceedings under inquest.
