Isha sets up final clash with Sandy

In-form Sandy Gumulya 8211; the second seed 8211; will seek her second successive crown as she takes on No 8 seed Isha Lakhani in the final of the 25,000 NECC-ITF women8217;s tennis championships at the Deccan Gymkhana here tomorrow.

In the semi-finals played today Isha went through a harrowing time before defeating Hong Kong8217;s Zhang Ling 1-6, 6-4, 6-1, while the Gumulya of Indonesia stopped the winning run of Russian Alexendra Panova 7-5, 6-3 in a match that lasted 1 hour 24 minutes. The doubles title went to youngsters Varatchaya Wongteanchai Thailand and Zhang Ling who came back strongly to outplay wildcard entrants Wynne Prakusya and Angelique Widjaja Indonesia 1-6, 7-5, 10-5. This was their first-ever career title. Varatchaya -Zhang received 25 WTA points and were richer by 1176, while the runners-up got 18 WTA points and 686 for their efforts.
