Inquiry ordered into attack on Nepal prince

An inquiry has been ordered as an angry crown prince Paras on Saturday sought an explanation from the police as to what it was doing to trace and punish persons who attacked his motorcade on Friday.

The prince8217;s motorcade was pelted with stones on Friday as he was headed to the airport to receive King Gyanendra and Queen Komal on their return from a 3-week long trip abroad. The incident happened near the venue where the leading opposition party8212;the Communist Party of Nepal8211;United Marxist Leninist CPN-UML8212;had just finished its rally protesting the authoritarian regime of the king.

This is for the first time that any member of the royal family has been made the target of a crowd attack.
