Infant recovered from garbage bin

CHANDIGARH, Dec 28: Forsaken and left to fate on the season8217;s coldest night, an eight-month-old baby boy was found in a garbage can in the Mauli Jagran housing complex today.

The wailing infant was discovered early in the morning by a housewife, who had gone to dispose of waste. Police believe he was dumped by an unwed mother.

quot;The baby must have been flipped during the wee hours of the morning,quot; said an officer at the Mani Majra police station. He added, quot;despite the cold he was in a healthy condition when discoveredquot;.

The deserted baby, they add, was taken to the quot;Missionaries of Charityquot; in Sector 23 after being treated by doctors at the Sector 32 Government Medical College and Hospital.
