BANGALORE: EAS Prasanna, one of the best cricket off-spinners ever, stated that he had no inkling of the ban on Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar.
Prasanna, who is in the International Cricket Council8217;s Illegal Bowling Action Committee, stated he was inducted into the committee only on January 1, 2000. 8220;The ban on Shoaib was taken in December. I replaced Kapil Dev in the committee only on January 1. By then, the ban on Shoaib Akhtar had already been pronounced.
8220;My mind is open about these things. I need to see video tapes and slow-motion replays of the bowler over a sustained period of time before arriving at any conclusion,8221; he said.

MIDNAPORE: Meghalaya registered their first win in two outings when they routed last year8217;s runners-up Tamil Nadu 5-0 in the Group Q quarter-final leagueof the 22nd Sub-junior under-16 National football championship. Meghalaya led 2-O in the breather.

MUMBAI: Delhi youngster Ashok Kumar fired a two-over par 72 to widen his lead after the penultimate round of the four-day Classic Stripes Western India amateur golf championship at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club course in Chembur.
Kumar8217;s three-day tally at the end of 54 holes in the 72-hole strokeplay event stood at three over par 213, 10 better than second-placed Sheeraz Kalra of Lucknow who came home in six over par 76 for an aggregate of 223.
