The Opposition had earlier flagged President Murmu’s absence during the consecration ceremony of the temple. The Trust had clarified then that the President had been extended an invitation.

On December 31, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had participated in the second anniversary celebrations of the Pran Pratistha ceremony. On November 25 last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the “Dharma Dhwaja” at the temple, marking the completion of its construction.

In a meeting of the Trust, sources said it was decided that labourers and other individuals engaged in the construction work should also be felicitated.

It took over 4,000 workers and craftsmen working round the clock for five years — backed by engineers from CBRI Roorkee, IIT Madras, Delhi, Mumbai and Guwahati, and the Indian Institute of Astrophysics — to shape the Ram Temple in Ayodhya into a structure built to withstand time, weather and natural calamities.

The three-storey temple stands 161 feet tall, 235 feet wide, and 360 feet long. Crafted using Bansi Paharpur sandstone from Rajasthan, the temple contains no iron or steel, whose tendency to rust could have shortened its life.
