BANGALORE, April 17: Srinath may play in Ranji final
8220;I bowled for about 45 minutes today and am quite happy with my fitness,8221; said Javagal Srinath even as the Karnataka team was being put through their paces at the turf facility outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday.

8220;Usually any muscle tear takes about three weeks to heal. It was only last Saturday that I thought I was fine after the side strain suffered during the Australian series,8221; said Srinath.

8220;I will bowl for a further 45 minutes on the morrow before deciding whether I am fit enough to withstand five days of the Ranji Trophy final against UP. But I think I should be okay,8221; he added.

IHF elections
NEW DELHI: The elections of the office bearers of Indian Hockey FederationIHF will be held at Hyderabad on May ten next. In a notification, IHF secretary Jyothikumaran said the elections will be preceded by the annual general meeting.

There are 35 state associations and institutions affiliated to the IHF with a voting right.

Meanwhile, the IHF has decided to hold the World Cup preparation camp at National Stadium from April 21 to 30. Holland8217;s former penalty corner expert Floris Bovelander will arrive here on April 22 and will hold a penalty corner clinic for the Indian players from April 23-30.

Jeev slips
NEW DELHI: Jeev Milkha Singh, one of the three overnight leaders at four under 71, slipped with a three over 74 in the second round of the Cannes Open Golf tournament on the European PGA Tour, according to information reaching here.

After early scores of the second round were turned in Santiago Lune of Spain had a five under aggregate for two round with a 69 and 68 in the two rounds. Pierre Fulke of Sweden who shot a two over 73 in first round was in scorchingform with a six under 65 in second round for a four under aggregate at halfway mark.

Sunil triumphs
NEW DELHI: One year after he stepped into the spotlight, Sunil Kumar came back to the DTA deco turf courts and stamped his class once again on the way to a title win in the boys under-16 event of the Adidas Junior Circuit here today.

Sunil, who trains at Chandigarh8217;s Punwire academy, defeated Dhaita8217;s Parantap Chaturvedi 6-4, 6-1. Earlier, Parantap had pocketed the boys under-14 title beating another Chandigarh boy Amanjot Singh in straight sets 6-1, 7-6 7-5.
