Feroz leads APGA earnings list
NEW DELHI: Ace golfer Feroz Ali, who won the Indian Open in Calcutta, tops the latest money winners list of the Asian Professional Golf Association (APGA) order of merit with earnings of $ 51,405. Three other Indians – Vivek Bhandari, Arjun Singh and Arjun Atwal also figure in the list – according to an APGA release here today.
Pakistan’s Taimer Hussain who earned $36,337 is placed second.
Billiards team
MUMBAI: The Indian team for the billiards event in the 1998 Bangkok Asian Games would be announced in the first week of October, according to national billiards champion Geet Sethi.
Sethi told reporters here last night that he hoped nearly 12 to 13 players would be selected for the games where ten medals are at stake for the event, which includes Carrom, 8-ball pool, 9-ball pool, billiards and snooker.
Selection trials
BANGALORE: The Sports Council of Paraplegics (SCOPE) is to conduct selection trials here in may for the Fesipic Games (AsianGames for disabled) to be held in Bangkok in 1999. Participants from the South zone for orthopaedically handicapped and paraplegic categories would be selected at the trials, a press release from SCOPE said here today.
DDCA exempted
NEW DELHI: The Delhi government has exempted the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) from paying the entertainment tax for the two One-Day internationals in the ongoing Triangular series to be hosted by it.According to DDCA president, KK Mehra, the exemption was made possible by the intervention of former cricketer Kirti Azad.
