New Delhi: A 17-member Indian women’s hockey team led by striker Pritam Rani Thakran left for Mumbai enroute to Australia to participate in a two-leg four-nation hockey tournament. Team: Pritam Rani Thakran (capt), Tingongleima Chanu, Helen Mary, Sandeep Kaur, Mary Stella Tirkey, Amandeep Kaur, Simrai Tete, Sita Gussain, Sunita Dalal, Suraj Lata Devi, Neha Singh, Manjinder Kaur, Kamala Dalal, Jyoti Sunita Kullu, Pakpi, Kanti Baa, Lakshmi Shree.
Ignatius shines
Haldia: S Ignatius struck a hat-trick to propel State Bank of Travancore into the final with a 3-0 victory over Goa’s Vasco Sports Club in a Group Q encounter of the second division National Football League here today.
SBT thus set up a title clash with Border Security Force, Jalandhar, already through to the summit round from Group P. The final would be played on April 30.
IOB, E Rly win
Panangad: Indian Overseas Bank, Chennai, and Eastern Railways, Calcutta, bagged the men’s and women’s titles respectively in the V Gopinatha Menon Memorial all-India volleyball tournament today.
IOB defeated Border Security Force, Jalandhar while Eastern Railway defeated Southern Railway.
Junior circuit
New Delhi: All-India Tennis Association junior tennis circuit will be conducted from May 10 to June 25. Called the Adidas Junior Tennis Circuit 1999, the event would be open to U-14 and U-16 boys and girls.
