CALCUTTA: Defending champions Maharashtra thrashed West Bengal A8217; 5-0 to maintain their winning run on the third day of the Inter-State Squash Championship at the Calcutta Racket Club here today.

The formidable Maharashtra players did not have to exert too much against their opponents as all their five players carved out straight set victories to give the team their third successive victory.

Coach sacked

MUMBAI: The Squash Rackets Federation of India SRFI has intimated junior national coach Yogendra Singh that his services will not be required. This is an indirect fall-out of Yogendra Singh8217;s decision to send back Bikram Uberoi from the teamduring the World Junior Squash Championship held in Princeton, America last year.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated issue Squash Rackets Association of Maharashtra SRAM committee member Rustom Dalal has resigned, it was announced here.

MOA clarifies

IMPHAL: Manipur Olympic Association MOA president Moirangthem Kumar Singh today denied that the MOA had withdrawn from the National Games Organising Committee NGOC as appeared in a section of the press.

8220;There is no question of MOA withdrawing from the NGOC. It MOA will go in tandem with the state government to conduct the National Games in February,8221; Singh, also the State Education Minister, said.
