Cueists win over Egypt

DUBAI: India scored a 4-1 win over Egypt in the Emirates International Snooker Championship on Tuesday night.

Yasin Merchant defeated Egypt’s Mohammed Ali 4-1, Ashok Shandilya beat Majid Shafiq by a similar margin, Dharminder Singh swept past Sherif Abousenna 4-0 and Siddharth Rao beat Husamul Deen Allam 4-1. Egypt scored their solitary victory through Wael Ahmed Talaat who downed Sarang Shroff 4-1. In another match, Pakistan beat host United Arab Emirates 4-1.

Sikand-Jaggi tops

SHIMLA: Sanjay Sikand (driver) and Ajay Jaggi (navigator) bagged the first prize in the adventurous 1085-km long distance cross country rally Raid de Himalaya.

The rally, flagged-off here on October 6, criss-crossed through Jalori Pass (10,000 ft), Rohtang Pass (14,000 ft) and Kumzum Pass (15,600 ft) and culminated last night.

In the two wheeler section, Suhrid Sharma emerged victorious.
