CM in Davos | Maharashtra govt committed to India’s economic growth: Fadnavis

The Maharashtra government is committed to the economic development and growth of India, said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis who landed in Zurich on Sunday. The CM is on a five-day visit to Switzerland to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.

Fadnavis was given a traditional welcome by the Brihan Maharashtra Mandal, Switzerland, an association of people with roots in Maharashtra.

“I am deeply touched by the warmth and affection of the BrihanMaharashtra Mandal, Switzerland. The ‘Paramparik vesh, Paddhati, Parampara’, and the Wari performance beautifully showcased our rich cultural heritage, bringing the true essence of Maharashtra in Zurich,” the CM said.

At the event, Amol Savarkar, coordinator of the International Marathi Forum, announced that Marathi language classes have started in several schools across Switzerland through the Forum’s efforts.

Fadnavis said it was a moment of joy and honour for Maharashtra and the Marathi language, adding the Forum’s work was helping preserve the language and promote its use globally.

Referring to the role of the Marathi diaspora, Fadnavis said, “Marathi communities worldwide are doing transformative work. To connect, celebrate, and amplify these efforts, ‘Maha-NRI Connect’ is being created, uniting Marathi people across the globe through Swadesh, Swadharma, and Swabhasha, and opening new paths of prosperity.”

Reiterating his government’s commitment to developing Mumbai as a global city, Fadnavis said, “Maharashtra continues to lead in development, contributing significantly to India’s growth and towards a trillion-dollar economy.”
