HAMBURG, AUG 23: Germany defeated India 3-0 today to claim their second win in as many matches in a four-nation hockey tournament.
Bjorn Michel 14th, Peter Streich 39th and Stefan Saliger 65th were on target for the hosts in front of 2,000 fans.
While the Germans had also won their opening match against the Olympic bronze medallists Australia 2-1 the previous day, the record Olympic champions India suffered their second defeat after a 6-1 drubbing by reigning Olympic champs Holland.
India only defended, it was very tough to break through their firm defence, said German coach Paul Lissek. But coming off a woeful eighth-place Olympic finish in Atlanta last year, India are experimenting with new players.
