
Scribes8217; body executive panel to meet
The Journalists8217; Association Chandigarh has called an emergency meeting of the executive committee tomorrow at 11 a.m. The meeting will be held at the association8217;s office in Sector 17 here. According to JAC secretary general Devinder Jeet Singh Darshi, some important matters pertaining to the profession and requiring immediate attention would be discussed in the meeting.
Ladies8217; club show
Members of the Thursday Ladies Club presented a song and dance programme here this evening. The programme, entitled Come September, featured dances choreographed on the tunes of Daler Mehndi. Monica Gupta gave an enthralling solo performance.
Tourism Day
The Executive Committee of Tourism Promotion Society of Chandigarh will celebrate World Tourism Day on September 27 with panel discussion on tourism. Students of hospitality institutes will take part in the discussions. Tourists arriving at the Chandigarh railway station will be accorded a warm welcomed with flowers on that day. A musical programme will also held.
Woman injured
A pedestrian was injured when she was knocked down by a Maruti car near Chandi Mata temple today. A case has been registered by the Chandimandir Police Station under sections 279, 337 of IPC. Preeti, the victim, is a resident Chandimandir.
Dowry case
The SAS Nagar police have registered a case under Section 498 A of IPC against three persons. The case has been registered on the complaint of Kuldip Kaur, a resident of Phase V, against her husband, father-in-law and brother-in-law. The complained has alleged that the accused were harassing her to bring Rs 2 lakh from her parents. The police are investigating into the case.
