Canoeists haul 3
NEW DELHI: India finished their campaign in the 8th Asian Canoeing Championships at Changde, China with adecent haul of one silver and two bronze. While Karma Toppo finished third in the 500m k1 event, Pradip Kumar Baroi and Toppo had won silver in the 1000m k2. Siji Kumar and Vaga Ram clinched bronze in 1000m c2 for the 14-member Indian team.

ATHENS: Unbeaten Alexander Karelin Russia advanced in the World Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships. Karelin, a three-time Olympic gold medalist and eighth-time World champion who is competing in the 130 kg 286 pound category, won his first match, 11-0, in just two minutes and six seconds. His next opponent forfeited, giving Karelin a spot in the round at 16. Karelin, 32, has never lost an international match.
