ICL will go ahead as per schedule: Kapil Dev

The 'roadblocks' being put up by BCCI notwithstanding, ICL's Executive Board Chairman asserted the series would go ahead as per schedule.

The 8220;roadblocks8221; being put up by the BCCI notwithstanding, Indian Cricket League8217;s Executive Board Chairman Kapil Dev on Wednesday asserted that the rebel series would go ahead as per schedule.

Addressing reporters at Mayajaal grounds on the sidelines of an ongoing camp for ICL players, the former India captain said, 8220;The tournament would be held with six foreign players in each of the six teams in fray. The selection process of these teams would be transparent and grounds for the matches is not a problem for us.8221;

8220;We have already identified the grounds. We are not averse to playing matches even in school grounds,8221; he added.

8220;ICL has plans to own its own grounds in the near future. BCCI has only about 12 grounds affiliated Units and the rest all belong to the respective state governments.8221;

Meanwhile, Subash Chandra, Chairman of ESSEL Group, which runs the League announced that the company planned to invest Rs 100 crore and Rs 15 to Rs 20 crore have already been spent so far.

On Rohan Gavaskar joining the ICL, he said, 8220;he is one of the 70 players. I will say nothing beyond that. My heroes will be those who come out of these 100 players. 8220;

8220;These players are national players in waiting. Each one of them has about 5 or 6 years of experience. The system and ICL project will evolve to greater propositions.
