Australia seems to bring out the best from Hyderabadis. Starting with the late ML Jaisimha to the magical Mohammed Azharuddin to the Very Very Special Laxman and now Sania Mirza, the Oz land has proved to be their happy hunting ground.
ML JAISIMHA
The original touch artist from Hyderabad was not picked for the Australian tour in 1967-68. But two days after he landed in Oz land, Jaisimha mesmerised the Brisbane crowd with a sparkling 74 and 101.
MOHAMMED AZHARUDDIN
The Hyderabadi had tormented the David Gower-led England with three consecutive Test hundreds in 1984-85. Soon after Azhar landed in Australia for the World Championship of Cricket and attracted a lot of attention. True to expectations, Azhar slammed 93 in the very first match to star in India8217;s win over rivals Pakistan.
VVS LAXMAN
He first got noticed internationally after he scored that 169 at Sydney in 1999-2000. But the world _ and the Aussies specially _ remember him for the magical 281 at Eden Gardesn in 2001. To make matters worse for the Oz, Laxman scored two more hundreds on India8217;s last tour Down Under in 2003-04. Not just that Laxman top-scored in Australia8217;s only Test loss at Mumbai last year.
