CHANDIGARH, Dec 7: The Feed and Workshop Workers Union of the Public Works Department PWD today sat on a hunger strike in assertion of their demands outside the office of Chief Engineer G. S. Kalra.

Union president Balaur Singh said that the PWD employees who were assigned field work were not getting due share of job-related incentives. He insisted that for the past one year the employees had been serving demand notices and protesting, but to no avail.

The Union members are insisting on the regularisation of the posts of the field employees who have been working on their posts for the last 10 to 15 years. They are also demanding other benefits like medical insurance, uniforms and increment in wages.

The members of the Board also served a memorandum, specifying their demands to the PWD.
