Homoeopath booked under MTP Act

A woman doctor has been booked under the Medical Termination of Pregnancy MTP Act after a team of the Health Department indicted her in a case of death of a 28-year-old patient.

A woman doctor has been booked under the Medical Termination of Pregnancy MTP Act after a team of the Health Department indicted her in a case of death of a 28-year-old patient.

The case was registered after the inquiry by the team, headed by Nakodar SMO Dr RL Bassan, found that the doctor who terminated the pregnancy was neither trained for the procedure nor was her clinic registered as an MTP centre.

Accused Dr Kulrajdeep Kaur is a homoeopath and runs Komal Nursing Home in Mehatpur.

Usha Rani of Vaghela village had two children and didn8217;t want the third child. She was admitted to the hospital in serious condition and Dr Kulrajdeep Kaur allegedly terminated her pregnancy.

When she developed complications, Usha was referred to DMC Hospital, Ludhiana, where she died, the family said. The case was registered under sections 4, 5 and 6 of the MTP Act and 312 of the IPC.
