AHMEDABAD, April 19: Anand police have arrested Raju Agarwal from Chikli village in Bulsar district on Sunday for his alleged involvement in several highway robberies.According to police, Raju Agarwal was wanted in several cases by the Kheda and Anand police.

Anand police said that Raju, earlier this month had boarded a tempo-taxi from the Gamadi Bridge on national highway as a passenger. On the way he along with the driver went for a cup of tea near Umiya hotel where he tranquilised the taxi driver. Later he was thrown away from the taxi near Vasai village and Agarwal fled with the taxi.

Meanwhile, the driver of the taxi regained consciousness and he complained to the vehicle owner Santaram Somai Vankheda who later complained to the Anand police station.

Anand police acting on a tip-off sent a team led by police sub-inspector V J Jadeja to Chikli village. The team arrested Agarwal from the village with the tempo-taxi. Agarwal had changed its number plate also.

Fraud case: Manager of Central Bank of India Lal Darwaja branch Jogindernath Bharati has lodged a complaint with Naranpura police that Amitkumar M Soni of Darshan Apartment, Naranpura has encashed Rs 3.10 lakh by two duplicate drafts drawn from the Central Bank of India, Chennai branch. Soni had encashed the drafts at the Naranpura branch of the Ahmedabad Mercantile Co-operative Bank.
