March 14: A desperate bridegroom from Dahisar village ended his life hours before his marriage after his bride eloped with another villager. Police said that Manoj Gharat was to be married to Sunita Gharat on Monday, preparations of the marriage were on in full swing.

However, it was learnt on Saturday that Sunita ran away with village primary school teacher Vivek Patil and got married to him, the police added. After hearing the news Manoj hanged himself to a ceiling in his house on Saturday, police said.
