CHANDIGARH, Oct 29: Gaurhar Pruthi’s unbeaten knock of 33 runs enabled St John’s High School-26 beat Shivalik Public School-41 by nine wickets in under-14 group and lift title in the Edmund Rice cricket tournament at St John’s High School premises today. St John’s bowler restricted SPS-41 bastmen in their innings and the team was back to the pavilion in the 26th over for 115 runs. Karan (20), Gaurav (16) and Gaurav Gupta (14) were the main run getters for the team.

In reply, St John’s achieved the target in the 16th over,losing one wicket only.

Gaurhar Pruthi unbeatean knock of 33 runs helped the team to win the title. Avneet Singh (32) and Jasraj Bhatti (30 not out) also contributed to the total. Harneet Singh Arora of St John’s PPHigh School-26 was given the best all-round title. Gaurhar and Asim Ali Gupta both of St John’s School were declared best bastman and bowler, respectively. The final of under-16 category will be played tomorrow between St John’s School and St Xavier School.

NE kho-kho tourney
North East Zone Inter University kho-kho tournament in women’s group is in progress at the Punjabi University, Patiala. The meet which began on October 27 will conclude on October 31. More than eight teams are participating in the meet.
