
Ince played with broken ankle
England midfielder Paul Ince told British Sunday newspapers he had played in the World Cup despite having a broken ankle bone. Ince, who played with his left ankle heavily strapped, missed a penalty in the shoot-out with Argentina which put England out of the World Cup in the second round. He and Glenn Hoddle had decided to keep the injury a secret.
