The first four seasons have proved to be one of the most lucrative for streaming giants Netflix, and that is what they are hoping for for the final season. The first part brought in a lot of surprises, some of which people saw coming, and some that no one had anticipated.
As it stands, there are some things that one needs to be aware of. First off, Max Mayfield is back, but she still hasn’t been reunited with the rest of the gang. She is off in a dreamland created by Vecna, and now she is also joined by Holly Wheeler, Max and Nancy’s younger sister. Even though Mrs Wheeler gave one of the most memorable ‘super-mom’ moments, she couldn’t protect her daughter from getting kidnapped.
This means more trouble for the band of friends, especially for the Wheeler family, but they do have a card up their sleeve. In the final moments of the first part, we see Robin, Mike and Lucas pinned down by demogorgons. With no escape, they almost give in to their fate, but suddenly the monsters stop dead in their tracks. This isn’t by will, but in fact it is Will Byers’s doing. He discovers his true ability, and by tapping into the hive mind that runs the Upside Down, he gains control of the monsters and kills them.
For the first time ever, the band isn’t going to be outgunned, which is going to make for a very interesting final stand against Vecna. Created by the Duffer brothers, the cast of Stranger Things includes Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Gaten Matarazzo, Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton and Joe Keery.
“Everything we have ever assumed about the Upside Down has been dead wrong," Dustin tells Steve in Stranger Things Season 5 Vol 2. “This place, the Upside Down, it isn’t another dimension. It’s not another world. It’s a wormhole — a bridge between two points in time and space between our world and another."

While Netflix started streaming three episodes of Stranger Things Season 5 Vol 2 today worldwide, the series finale, The Rightside Up, will only land on New Year's Eve in the US and on January 1, 2026 in India. In North America, it will also be shown at 500 theatres simultaneously with its streaming release. With a length of 2 hours and 8 minutes, it is a feature length presentation. It will seal the fate of the series as its creators, the Duffer Brothers, have ruled out off-shoots and sequels.
Duffer Brothers had teased that Steve Harrington may die in Stranger Things Season 5 Vol 2. However, while he appears to be safe in the first three episodes, there is still one more episode to go before the series ends. Steve is in the Upside Down with Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), and Nancy (Natalia Dyer) during the three episodes and Steve and Dustin are still not seeing eye to eye.

Dustin explains Stranger Things Season 5 Vol 2 that Eleven didn't send Henry Creel to the Upside Down but to the Abyss, a term fans of Dungeons and Dragons already know. He calls it "the true home of the Demogorgons, the vines, the Mind Flayer, and all the nasty sh*t from the Upside Down". Eleven sent him to the Abyss and the Upside Down was formed at the time as 'a bridge'.
Stranger Things Season 5 finally reveals that the Upside Down is actually a bridge between space and time, as per Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo) after he goes through journals belonging to Dr. Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine), who actually set up and ran Hawkins Laboratory. The sixth episode "Escape from Camazotz" reveals that it's a bridge that's allowing Vecna to travel between Hawkins and an evil world full of monsters.

Stranger Things actor Noah Schnapp has opened up on growing up in the public fame after he started acting in the show at the age of 11. "It’s hard to grow up in the public eye,” Schnapp, who plays Will in the series, told USA Today. “You don’t know yourself, you haven’t figured anything out, and now you’re expected to know everything and have all the answers. I was constantly saying the wrong things or being embarrassed by not taking certain things seriously that I should’ve, and then that lives on forever. People grow and learn, and to do that publicly is not easy.”

The runtime of Stranger Things Season 5 Vol 2's final episodes is out but its is the last episode, to be telecast on New Year's Eve in the US, which will be a monster. At 2 hour 5 minutes, the runtime of the finale episode will compete with many films. In the US and Canada, it will also be shown in 500 theatres for that community experience.
