
MUMBAI, SEPTEMBER 12: Freedom fighter and social worker Revajibhai Chaudhary passed away at his residence in Jawhar taluka in Thane district on Saturday. He was 93 years old and is survived by his wife, two sons and five daughters.
He had participated actively in the freedom struggle in Pune. In 1932 he unfurled the Indian flag on the shanivarwada in Pune. As a consequence, he was jailed for six months. He spent another year in jail for his participation in jangal satyagraha8217; in Thane during the emergency.
A member of Jawhar legislative assembly, he was instrumental in creating a place for the Jawhar institution in free India in 1947. Chaudhary not only created social awareness among the Jawhar adivasis8217; but also worked for their social, cultural and educational development. The state government had honoured him with the adivasi sevak award.
