
Railways Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Saturday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and demanded that the Centre form a 8220;task force8221; for carrying out rescue and relief operations in flood-hit Bihar. Lalu accused the Nitish Kumar Government of completely failing on that front.
Yadav submitted before the PM a nine-point demand that included providing free foodgrain to flood victims for the next one year, loan waiver to farmers and a second crop loan.
8220;There is no mechanism in Bihar to extend relief to those who are stranded. I met the Prime Minister and demanded that a task force be formed. He has agreed to extend all possible help,8221; Yadav told reporters.
