Fiona Mackeown, mother of British teenager Scarlett Eden Keeling who was found dead on a beach in Goa, would not return to India till she is assured about her safety in Panaji, her lawyer said.
“Even if she (Fiona) gets the visa, she will not come untill she is assured about her safety,” her lawyer Vikram Varma said.
Fiona has already applied for visa for India to follow up the matter regarding Scarlett’s organs that are with the Goan authorities.
Varma said Fiona is not sure about many things including the possibility of a look-out notice against her.
“What would she do if Indian authorities issue a look-out notice against her?” he said citing the example of Pakistan human rights activist Ansar Burney who was deported because of a look-out notice.
Verma said Fiona has full faith in CBI investigations ordered in the case.
Scarlet’s bruised corpse was found on Goa’s Anjuna beach on February 18. Two locals were arrested during the police investigation and currently the case is being probed by Central Bureau of Investigation.
