Vadodara, April 27: After being postponed at least four times in the past year, interviews for the four vacancies for professors in M S University8217;s Faculty of Fine Arts were finally conducted here recently. However, controversy seems to refuse to let go the posts, with the interviewees alleging that the panel comprised retired readers of the university.

Sailesh Patel, one of the applicants, told Express Newsline, 8220;When the university had first advertised the vacancies, I and three others had been called to the interview. The same four of us appeared yet again for the interview this time.8221; The last time round, too, the interviews had been cancelled because readers were on the panel to judge professorial candidates, Patel added.

Senior professors of the faculty admitted that the interview panel for the most recent candidates comprised senior readers and retired readers of other universities.

While one of them was a senior reader of MSU, another was from an university in Udaipur. Questioned the professors, 8220;How can interviews for professors be conducted by readers?8221;

One of the senior professors of the faculty said, 8220;The rank of a reader is lower than that of a professor. These interviews are a complete violation of university rules.8221;
