CHANDIGARH, MARCH 14: A medical examination of Tejinder Kaur and Ritu Joshi, teachers of the Punjab Nav Niyukt Adhyapak Union who are on a hunger strike, was done today.

The medical team from General Hospital, Sector 16, which examined the two teachers, said that the body of a healthy person can usually take the strain of fast till seven days, after which the person needs to be hospitalised.

quot;We check for ketone bodies and blood sugar. The low blood glucose level in the body leads to a condition called hypoglycemia, effecting the nervous system.quot; However, the report ruled out any such possibility. The strike entered its seventh day today. They are demanding reinstatement of their sacked colleagues.
