Dipannita Sharma, that8217;s a new name?
Well, you may not have heard of her but she definitely is a name to watch out for. She only moved to the city six months ago and has already walked the ramp for all the major designers from Shahab Durazi to Manish Malhotra. Since then she has also become the face of Synergie.
Seems like she has had no problems making her entry into the Mumbai modelling scene?
Well, Dipannita did a lot of work in Delhi before she moved here, working with designers like J J Valaya, Suneet Verma and Ravi Bajaj. And two years ago she took part in the Miss India contest where she was placed fourth. quot;Even though I did not win, it was a great platform as I was really noticed I won the Miss Photogenic round.quot;
But Dipannita has always been good in front of the camera.
While at college, this History student was a regular participant in fashion shows, where one time she won the best model mantle. quot;The prize was a free portfolio. And I sent my pictures out eventhough they were not brilliant. That8217;s how I began to get work.quot;
So, she is happy that she moved here?
quot;Work wise it8217;s brilliant. And the people are really friendly. But I have had to adjust to the pace of the city. Everyone is always on the move.quot;
But isn8217;t there a lot of politics to deal with in the glamour world?
quot;I do not really hang out with too many models. I have a lot of college friends who live here, so I mainly hang out with them. Most of the girls already knew me when I moved here, so it was not like I was a new face. I had done so many shows in Delhi.quot;
So she was not worried about back biting?
quot;I stay out of controversies and I don8217;t think anyone really talks about me. But if they do, then I guess that8217;s alright as it shows that I matter.quot;
Well, she does sound like a very level-headed young girl.
Yes, that she is. So far this Delhi girl has managed not to get carried away with her new-found fame. quot;I know when people are just being nice for the sakeof it. I never let myself get high on flattery.quot;
But she must enjoy the attention that a ramp model receives?
quot;On the ramp, I8217;m a different person. I love my profession and like being in front of a camera or audience. Then I8217;m flamboyant, and yes, then I do like the attention.quot;
Does that mean she is not flamboyant in real life?
Well, unlike most ramp models this girl is not into the party circuit. quot;I cannot just party with anyone and everyone. I prefer small, more casual gatherings. But if it8217;s a friend8217;s birthday then I will make an effort.quot; In fact, Dipannita admits that she would prefer spending the night at home watching television. quot;I am quite a couch potato.quot;
She likes the idiot box?
quot;I have always been fascinated by it. I love watching Hindi serials like Saaya, Saans and Aur Phir Ek Din. And on Starworld I enjoy Dharma and Greg.
Any chance of her making the transition from the still camera to the moving camera?
quot;I would like to work in TV and amconsidering a few offers.quot; But until then her ramp and ad work keeps her very busy.
And being the Synergie girl she must have to keep good care of her skin?
quot;It is not difficult to look after your skin. You just have to remember to be careful. You have to keep your face clean and moisturise. I always take my make up off with baby oil. But I do think I am lucky as my mother had very good skin, so I have inherited good skin.quot;
And what about her figure is that thanks to good genes too?
quot;I am just lucky. I tend to indulge myself a lot. And I love chocolates, I just came back from Switzerland and my fridge is full of chocolates. Though now that I have a contract with Synergie I do try and avoid fried food.quot;
And finally, what advise does she have for aspiring models?
quot;Keep your head on your shoulders and work hard.quot;
