CHANDIGARH, Dec 17: P. K. GUPTA, general manager of Punjab National Bank, head office, said today that with proper planning, the state could increase its contribution to the national export index from 2.3 per cent to about 4 per cent.

He was speaking at the 11th meeting of the state-level Export Promotion Committee of Haryana. He said that in the last three decades, exports from Haryana increased from Rs 4.5 crore to Rs 2,961 crore with the help of about 400 industrial units.

Sudha Sharma, commissioner, Institutional Finance and Credit Control, Haryana, applauded the efforts of bankers and other developmental agencies for their contribution to exports from the state.

Others who attended the meeting included S. S. Dhillon, director Institutional Finance and Credit, Haryana, U. S. Paliwal, deputy general manager, RBI, and officers from other banks and financial institutions.
