KHARAR, April 19: A special revision of electoral rolls for the Ropar parliamentary constituency and five Assembly constituencies of Roopnagar district would be done in a phased manner from tomorrow and the process would conclude on July 21.The process would be undertaken as per the orders issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to revise the electoral rolls in all the constituencies of the states and Union Territories (except Assam, Bihar, Goa, J & K, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura and Uttar Pradesh) with reference to qualifying date.

The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDMs) of Kharar and SAS Nagar, Amarjit Singh Dhindsa and Om Parkash Popli, respectively, who are also the electoral registration officers for Morinda-68 and Kharar-69 Assembly constituencies, today told ENS that the draft publication of electoral rolls would be made available at all the polling stations from tomorrow, while the receipt of claims and objections in their offices would be done till May 20. The disposal of claims and objections would be done by June 21 and the final publication of electoral rolls would be made on July 21. They said that April 24 and 25 and May 8 and 9 would be the campaign dates for receiving claims and objections as designated locations. Both the SDMs held a meeting with the concerned officials and employees taking part in the exercise and asked them to perform their duty as per rules.
