Eight persons, including seven Army personnel were missing due to flash floods caused by torrential rains in Arunachal Pradesh today as major rivers continued to flow above the danger mark in Bihar.

Seven Army personnel were missing as flash floods caused by torrential rains washed away two iron bailey bridges near Rupa in the state.

West Kameng, superintendent of police T Ringu said in Itanagar that three bodies have been recovered so far.

The two iron bailey bridges near Rupa which were washed away delinks West Kameng and Tawang districts of Arunachal Pradesh, Ringu said.

Extensive damages have been caused to Bhalukpong Totawang road. Around 500 feet of road on each side was washed away between district headquarter Bodila and Dirang and Bomdila and Nafra.

Four houses were washed away and five others damaged in between Bomdila and Dirang.

Reports from Patna said Ganga, Gandak, Bagmati, Burhigandak, Mahananda and Adhwara group of rivers overtopped the danger mark posing a threat to the embankments and inundating fresh areas.

Relief and rescue operations were launched on a war-footing in the flood-affected districts of Bihar with the Army and Air force helicopters dropping materials including food packets, medicines and polythene sheets.
