Easy win for SSP

A one-over-par 73 was good enough to guarantee Shiv Shankar Prasad Chowrasia a six-stroke victory at the Sir Padampat Singhania Open with an overall total of eight-under-par 280 at the par-72 Noida Golf Course today.

Chowrasia birdied the first hole, but dropped a stroke on the sixth hole to remain at level-par for the day. He dropped yet another stoke on the 11th, which he recovered on the 14th hole. He made yet another bogey on the par-five 17th hole, but by then, the title was his and he had nothing to loose. The Kolkottan received the winner8217;s cheque of Rs. 1,62,000.

Rafik Ali finished second with a total of 286. Veteran Shiv Prakash and Ranjit Singh were tied for third place and Amritinder Singh finished the tournament in fifth place.

Rafik started with birdies on the first two holes and though his progress was halted by a bogey on the sixth, he recovered by making a birdie on the ninth.
