PUNE, Aug 27: Dyanprabodhini Sadashiv Peth after having played second fiddle last year did well to notch a 19 point verdict over Ujwal Vidyaniketan to lift the Multi-Game District Sports Council under-14 boys kabbadi title.

At the New English School Tilak Road ground, here today, Dyanprabodhini aided by the all-round brilliance of Sagar Deshmukh and Pratik Hande managed a 63-44 full-time verdict. For the losers Anil Deokule and Nilesh Jagtap did well, but failed to keep their team from ending up losers.

Earlier, in the semi-finals Dyanprabodhini scored a six point 83-77 win over Karmaveer Bahusaheb Vidyalaya with Mangesh Jagtap and Akhil Deokule excelling, while Dyanprabodhini too had a tough time getting past Ashok Vidyalaya 59-51. Sagar Deshmukh, Rohan Sarodaye and Akshay Jog with their timely and effective catches stood out for the winners.

A total of 54 teams took part in the one-day meet, with last years winners Jawahar Vidyalaya shying of from the tourney. Action now shifts to the boys under-17 section which would be played at the same venue on Saturday.
