Mumbai, Nov 2: A second-half brace by Sylvester Dickson saw enabled Dadar XI B to sail into the third round after beating Tipu Sultan 2-0 in a Mini Rovers Cup at the Cooperage today.Now, Dadar team will face Ahmednagar DFA on Wednesday.In another match today, Mahindra Tractors also entered the pre-quarters defeating Poona DFA 2-0 in the third round.The first match between Dadar team and Tipu Sultan was a rematch of a Senior Division match. They both met last time during Senior League and Dadar won it with the same margin.Dadar started well on winning note as Dickson slotted home in the 12th minute off a Someshwar Yadav pass. Then onwards medio Vincent D'Souza and Anguin Lewis controlled the game. In patches, they were making inroads through the Tipu defence as striker Simon D'Souza was not in touch and missing quite often.At the breather, Dadar were ahead 1-0. Thereafter, Tipu recharged their batteries and make several goal threatening moves. lack of finishing deprived them from desiredresults.In the mid of second half, Sylvester was also guilty of missing couple of sitters. Once he had a one-to-one situation when he was put by Deepak Diwakaran on top of the box.Dadar's stopper back Prasad Shetty aimed at the left post on a penalty awarded in the 81st minute.But Sylvester sealed the fate for the Dadar team when Tipu defenders failed to trap him off-side in dying minute of the match. And he dribbled past Sandesh Mohite, Tipu goalkeeper and nodded in. The second affair of the day was again dominated by Mahindra Tractors - another WIFA Senior Division team. The visitors from Poona failed to impress as they hardly threatened the junior Tractors goal.Anish Kanchan, the lanky Tractors striker put tractors ahead with a fine finishing goal in the 12th minute. Medio Intekhab crossed on the penalty spot from left wing, Kanchan, in a spur of moment, volleyed to the right top corner of Poona goal.Tractors boys could have increased the lead in 31st minute when they were awarded penaltyafter Nigel Mathias was brought down by Ponna's Prashant Gadge. But striker Arunava Kanjilal could hit the left post.The hard-working Mathias increased the lead on a counter attack just before the referee Saby D'Costa could blew the half-time whistle. Mathias dribbled past two defenders and slipped his shot to the right of Ravi Durga - Poona goalkeeper.The visitors brought in couple of fresh pairs of legs but lack of finishing at the goalpost deprived them from any goal.The best move came from Poona came as late as in the 64th minute when Vijayan Arland's low cross found Flavian Richard on the goal-mouth. But the latter could place his shot over on the advancing Atif Ansari, Tractors goalkeeper.Tractors will take on Peerless (Calcutta) on Wednesday in the quarter-finals.
