NEW DELHI, APRIL 14: A 65-year-old businessman was stabbed to death in Friends Colony early on Tuesday morning. Brij Bhushan Sood8217;s wife Madasa 59 was sleeping just next to him and said she didn8217;t hear anything.
According to police, the assailants stole his wallet and her purse. The police suspect it to be an insider8217;s job. Till late in the night, the police were interrogating Sood8217;s four domestic servants.
The Soods had gone to a friend8217;s house in Vasant Kunj for dinner last night. Madasa said they returned around 12.30 am, and were dropped to their A-44 East Friends Colony home by the driver. Their domestic help Kishan opened the door. The Soods8217; servants stay in the quarters at the back of the house. There are two keys to the front door, which has an automatic lock. One of these keys is always with the Soods and the other is with one of the servants.
According to police, the house had not been ransacked. However, police noticed that an attempt had been made to wipe off blood stains on thefloor.
According to Madasa, at around 3 am, she heard some noises in the room. She awoke to find two other men in the room. One of the men grabbed her neck while the other put his hand over her face. She tried to fight back and said she even pulled one man8217;s hair. After this, they apparently ran off. She switched on the light and saw her husband8217;s body in a pool of blood. He had been stabbed and strangled.
Madasa said she had probably been sedated or the men may have clamped a chloroform cloth over her face while she was asleep.
She saw that nothing was missing apart from her bag and her husband8217;s wallet.
She reached out for the phone to call her son but the phones had been disconnected. as she didn8217;t hear anything initially. Also, the entry was friendly, enabling the police to conclude that the assailant was known to Sood.
