PANCHKULA, Oct 22: quot;It was essential for sarpanches to take the opinion of villagers before proceeding with development works at the village level,quot; stressed Deputy Commissioner Saroj Siwach here today.

The DC was talking to villagers in the Junta Darbar being held in Kakkar Majra village of Raipur Rani block. Sarpanch of the village, Chaman Lal demanded a 63 KV transformer instead of a 25 KV one and adequate number of teachers in the village8217;s government senior secondary school. Other demands pertained to maintenance of roads and the availability of drinking water.

While most of the problems were solved on the spot, the DC directed PWD officials to prepare an estimate regarding the pending construction of Government Secondary Senior School in Kakkar Majra. Those attending the darbar included SP Alok Mittal and other officials.
