The lights seemed to be dancing and singing in more than 42 photographs put up by Swaranjit Savi. Titled 8220;The dancing lines8221; a photo exhibition put by poet painter and photographer, Swarnjit Savi, opened at the art gallery, 8216;Artmosphere8217; here today. The exhibition was inaugurated by eminent photographer A.P. Singh.

Hemant Sathe, an eminent painter, curator and art critic had described Savi8217;s work as 8220;Exploring the journey of light in a very poetic manner.8221; Savi has juxtaposed a variety of visual ideas. Talking about his works, Savi says, 8220;Camera is my constant companion. This is a collection of pictures that I have taken over a period of time. These lights adorn the gurdwaras and the temples and are even the projection of busy city life, the manner in which these lights seem to criss-cross on the roads.8221;

Savi, who has seven books on poetry to his credit, and is also a well-known painter, adds, 8220;And when I saw the pictures, it was the lights that stood out. The forms were gone, left behind were these lines and spots created by lights. Lights seemed to dance in front of me creating images that at times belied the original pictures. The lights simply enraptured me and hence I created this series.8221;

But then the artist who wants to share his 8220;work with the city8221; is pained at the fact that, 8220;Ludhiana has such a great art gallery in form of Atmosphere. It is one thing that this cash-rich city lacked so grossly. I have put up my works here and now leave it to Ludhianvis to appreciate it.8221;

Savi adds, 8220;It is not that city lacks art sense, it is just that people find it very hard to take out some time from their busy life to roam through a gallery. I really want to make an appeal that it is literally thereupatic to walk through the works of art. Our self becomes well when one sees colours and beauty around and we should visit such places.8221;

Dr A.P. Singh, who teaches photography at PAU, said from the five basic elements of design, Savi has taken the two-colour and line and created poetry out of it. Savi says this was just one of those ideas which he sees as a point in his evolution as an artiste, that produced this series of photographs of light in its various hues.
