PATIALA, April 16: Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar Missionary Forum has objected to the site selected by the Municipal Corporation authorities for installation of the statue of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, here.President of the Forum, Balu Sardar Singh said in a statement here today that the corporation had first hurt the sentiments of the Dalit community by delaying the allotment of land for the statue and then gone ahead and allotted a small piece of land opposite the main bus stand. With the passage of time, this small piece of land is likely to shrink further, he said.Meanwhile, general secretary of the Forum Salig Ram appealed to the Municipal Corporation authorities to select a proper site for the purpose. He demanded that the statue of Baba Sahib be installed on the pattern of those in Ludhiana and Jalandhar, where the corporation authorities had installed 12-feet high statues.A resolution to this effect has been passed by a voice vote during a function organised to celebrate the birthday of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar at the Rajpura colony here. According to a spokesman of Dr Bhim Bhimrao Ambedkar Missionary Forum, representatives of about 30 Dalit organisations participated in the function and appealed to the corporation authorities to take them into confidence in the reselection of the site.Among those who addressed the occasion were, Harminder Kaur, Chaman Lal Prabhakar and Lekh Raj Parwana.
