AHMEDABAD, September 28: At least 10 people were killed and 11 injured when a jeep, in which they were travelling, was hit by a speeding truck at Chandisar village on Palanpur-Dessa national highway in Palanpur district today. Police said the injured have been admitted to Palanpur civil hospital.

Nagpur Flying Club to reopen soon

NAGPUR: The half-century old, State-owned Nagpur Flying Club, shut down since 1994, is fast gearing up to revive its flying activities in the region. Divisional commissioner and club secretary has initiated recruitment of the chief flight instructor and the chief engineer for the club. Advertisements for recruitment to the two posts was flashed in newspapers recently. The club was taken over by the government in 1990 but after four years, it folded its wings because of non-availability of a chief flying instructor and chief engineer.

No interest to MPEB consumers

BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh Electricity Board (MPEB) has decided not to pay any interest to consumers on the security deposit taken from them in view of its precarious financial condition. Officials sources said MPEB would earn about Rs 35 crore because of the decision. MPEB was still to receive Rs 255 crore from the State for one-point connections and free supply of electricity to irrigation pumps with less than five horse power in rural areas.
