Daewoo small car prototype arrives

NEW DELHI, July 1: The prototype of Daewoo Motors small car has arrived at its Noida plant. The small car is to be offered with three engine options 800cc, 1000cc and 1200cc. Like the Cielo, the model is the latest one, and will be launched simultaneously in India, Europe and Korea. The car is to be priced at somewhere between Maruti8217;s 800cc model and its 1000cc Zen.

In view of the fact that most cars are available off the shelf in the Indian market today, Daewoo does not intend to open bookings for the car. Instead, it will be available on demand. As in the case of the Cielo, potential customers will be allowed to test drive the small car before they take a decision on buying it, or on what engine capacity to opt for.

The company may even bring out a scheme of allowing a limited number of customers to test the car for a longer period of time, as in the case of the Cielo. While the 800cc model will be available only in the standard model, the 1000cc and the 1200cc models will have a deluxe version as well. Vendors of the company disclosed that since the last six months work on the component and parts development is on.
