Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel entered into a clash with locals at Bandwan in Purulia district. The incident occurred when a few people were protesting after a CRPF vehicle had hit two bikers. But the protest turned violent as the mob barged into a paramilitary camp, forcing the personnel to fire ten rounds in the air to scare them away. “There has been no casualty. Since the locals tried to barge into the camp, CRPF personnel fired in the air,” said Rajesh Yadav, SP of Purulia.

Kolkatans get no respite from heat
The city continues to sweat even in the middle of December. Saturday’s minimum temperature was 20.4ºC, six degrees higher than normal. According to the Met Department, the delayed winter is the result of western disturbances over Jammu and Kashmir.

Seminar on ethical business held
