Detention
The Daman district magistrate has ordered the detention of bootlegger Harshad Patel of the union territory under the Prevention of Anti-Social Activities for misbranding liquor. Patel is a history-sheeter. According to a statement issued by the assistant director of information of Daman and Diu recently, a large quantity of liquor, labels, caps and sealing machines used in misbranding were seized from him.

Case of rioting
A case of rioting was registered against one Ganaptbhai Shanabhai Mali and 10 others for assaulting one Lilabhai Chimnabhai Mali, a resident of Tandalja village, on Wednesday evening. The accused assaulted the complainant with sticks and sharp weapons, due to which he was injured in the neck and ears. The police are on the lookout for the accused.

Stolen
One Atulkumar Chhotabhai Patel, a resident of Riddhi Siddhi Society in Gorwa, complained to the Gorwa police that his music system worth Rs 1,500 was stolen from his Maruti car on Wednesday evening.

Vehicles stolen
One Kishorbhai Vikrambhai Savani, a resident of A-2, Neeltarang Apartment in Nizampura, complained to the Karelibaug police that his scooter GCS-5259 worth Rs 4,000 was stolen from opposite Kashiben Children8217;s Hospital on Wednesday. In another case, a Bajaj Cub scooter GJ-6-4653 worth Rs 6,000 belonging to one Amitaben Bharatbhai Shukjla of Subhanpura was stolen from near the Nyay Mandir on Tuesday. Both cases were being investigated, the police said.
