
Killed in mishap
A 32-year-old woman was killed and five others were injured when the Tata Sumo jeep GJ-17-C-635 in which they were travelling turned turtle near Tilakwada village near here on Monday evening. According to the rural police, Naseembano S Sayeed, a resident of Pavijetpur village, was killed and five members of her family received minor injuries in the mishap.
Youth dead
A youth, Sahadev Vasava, about 27, immolated himself, the rural police and the Fire Brigade said on Monday. Stating that the matter was being investigated, the police said the youth was alone in his hut in Moti Bopad village when the incident occurred.
Thefts
Miscreants broke into a house in Gorwa area and decamped with various valuables worth Rs 69,000, the police said on Monday. According to the police, one Dr Himanshu A Shah8217;s house was burgled when the entire family was out of station when the house was burgled. The stolen valuables included jewellery and cash, the police said, adding that an investigation had been initiated. In another incident, miscreants stole valuables worth Rs 15,000 from a locked Maruti car GBW-3325 parked in Sayajigunj area on Monday. According to the police, the stolen goods included clothes and jewellery besides cash.
Machines burnt
In a fire which broke out in Shyam Industries in Por village, a couple of machines were gutted on late Monday night, fire brigade officials said.
Vehicles lifted
Four two-wheelers were stolen from different parts of the city, the police said on Monday. According to the police, a scooter , a Sunny moped , a Bajaj Super scooter and a Hero Honda motorcycle were reported to have been lifted from Fatehgunj and Sayajigunj areas.
Man end life
Surat: A 37-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself from a TREE in the Nana Varachha area of the city on Sunday night, the Kapodara police said.
Ramlal Nagar, a resident of Nana Varachha informed the police on Monday morning that a person was hanging from a mango tree in the neighbourhood, after which the police rushed to the spot. The Kapodara police said the person was wearing a white shirt and black trousers and darkish complexioned. The body has been sent to the New Civil hospital for post-mortem. His identity is still not known.
