Burmese militant held
The Special Cell of the Delhi Police claim to have apprehended a Burmese Muslim militant who was a member of the Harkat-Ul-Ansar, a Kashmiri militant organisation.

Karim, 20, was arrested from Subhash Park in the Jama Masjid area. On interrogation, he disclosed that at the age of 13, he had joined the Burmese militant movement. However, due to pressure of security forces in Burma, he along with his parents and other relatives, fled Burma and settled in Bangladesh.

Then he entered India illegally in 1994 and proceeded to Kashmir to join the militant movement. He reached Sopore in the Baramullah district and joined the Harkat-ul-hansar. The group had fired on Army personnel in Bandipora and blew up an Army vehicle in Baramullah resulting in the loss of many lives. Subsequently, he left Kashmir in 1995 for Pakistan and came back to India recently through Bangladesh.

4 arrested for manhandling policemen
Four persons, including two serving constables and a former constable, were arrested by the Anand Vihar Police for allegedly manhandling members of the special staff of East district police.

The special staff had been briefed to check buses at different check-points to prevent incidents of pick-pockets.

On Thursday, eight persons were seen getting down from a bus, but hurriedly got into it when they saw the police.

Suspecting foul play, the police reportedly started checking the passengers. Four of the suspects started manhandling the police, while the other four managed to flee the spot. The four persons who have been arrested have been identified as constable Brahmpal of Daryaganj police station, Ranbir of Fourth Branch, and a dismissed constable Satender Singh and another person from Noida. Both Brahmpal and Ranbir were on leave.A case has been registered at the Anand Vihar police station. Further investigations are on.

One arrested for rape attempt
A 35-year-old bus conductor was arrested for attempting to rape his 11-year-old step daughter in Kalakaji area of south Delhi on Thursday afternoon. According to the statement given by the victim, he had attempted to rape her twice. On both the occasions her mother Savitri was not present in the house.

Liquor seized
The Badarpur Police claim to have recovered 6,090 pouches of country-made liquor from a 22-year-old Karamvir. A case has been registered under the Excise Act.
